Reasons for Forehead Lift

The forehead lift is most frequently done on people in their 40s to 60s to slow the aging effects but, they are not alone.

Forehead Lift surgery can additionally help people with inherited conditions, such as furrowed lines above the nose or a droopy eyebrow. The surgery can also raise low eyebrows in younger people who already have an unwanted sad look. The surgery can even be performed in people whose brows are so low that they block the upper part of their visual field.

A right candidate for a Forehead Lift surgery perhaps has deep furrows between the eyes, horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, sagging brows, the tissue that hangs down at the outer part of the eyelids, and a nose that does not work correctly.

Forehead Lift Methods

There are several techniques used for forehead surgery. The surgeon will help the patients decide which surgical approach will best achieve the desired aesthetic goals.

Chemical

Chemical forehead lifting methods are amongst the least invasive ones. Some of the chemical methods do not require the brows or the forehead to be "lifted." Instead, the surgeon takes advantage of fillers to fill underneath the expression wrinkles and flatten them up. This procedure creates a more stretched look in the forehead area with fewer lines, therefore achieving a lifted forehead, eyebrows, and a younger appearance.

Another method for a chemical forehead lift is the use of Botox. Botox is a popular method in such applications lately due to its minimally invasive demand, little downtime, and application ease. Botox applications usually do not require an expert surgeon. A well-trained and experienced medical professional can competently, successfully, and safely apply Botox.

Despite its popularity and ease of application, Botox is one of the least permanent solutions. The chemical in Botox gets metabolized and loses its effect for 3-6 months.

Coronal

Coronal or classical forehead lifting is one of the most invasive eyebrows or forehead lifting techniques. Just before the process begins, the hair is tied to the rubber bands on either side of the incision line. The patient's hair does not need to be shaved, but hair that grows directly in front of the incision line may have to be trimmed.

A coronal incision will be used in several patients. It follows a headphone-like pattern, beginning at the ear level and continuing across the top of the forehead and down the other side of the head. The small cuts are usually made well behind the hairline so that the scar is not noticeable.

Endoscopic

Usually, an endoscopic forehead lift surgery requires the same planning steps as the classic technique. The hair is pulled back and trimmed behind the hairline where the incisions are made.

Nevertheless, rather than making one long coronal incision, the surgeon will make three, four, or five short scalp small cuts, each less than one inch. An endoscope, a pencil-like camera device attached to a television monitor, is inserted into one of the incisions, enabling the surgeon to view the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. The forehead skin is lifted after using another device inserted through another incision. The muscles and underlying tissues are removed or adjusted to produce a smoother appearance. The eyebrows also may be raised and secured into their higher position by stitches beneath the skin's surface or by temporary fixation screws placed behind the hairline.
