What are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns are custom-made restorative caps that cover the entire visible portion of a damaged, weakened or fallen tooth. They are designed to fully restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength and appearance

Placed on top of teeth or anchored on a dental implant, tooth crowns require careful X-ray measurement of the patient’s mouth and high-precision manufacturing. They are placed for 5 main cosmetic reasons:

  • Improve chewing & speech
  • Enhancing the jawline
  • Heightening the maxillary structure
  • Improving facial harmony
  • Allowing a full smile

Dental Crowns Types & Materials

Natural Clinic has a prosthetics catalogue to adapt to all needs and wants. The main criteria for your choice depend on whether you want to prioritize aesthetics or endurance. Another important consideration is your budget for the cost of dental crowns in Turkey.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns remain one of the most popular options for dental restauration, chosen for their beauty, customizability and natural appeal. Tooth-coloured porcelain blends seamlessly with your natural teeth, ensuring strength and durability. Their main advantages include:

Zirconium Crowns in Turkey

Zirconium is a highly resistant metal element, often considered the sturdiest material for dental prosthetics and the most resistant to chipping, cracking and discolouration. Due to its translucid characteristics, zirconium crowns are almost indistinguishable from real teeth. Their main advantages include:

Monolithic Zirconia

Monolithic zirconia crowns are made of a single, unbroken block of zirconia. They are considered the best options for a full smile makeover. Their main advantages include:

Layered Zirconia

Layered zirconia crowns are incrusted with different ceramic and porcelain coatings that mimic the translucency of the surrounding dentition. They are a blend of aesthetics, solidity and functionality, with the following advantages:

Emax Crowns in Turkey

Emax crowns are one of the most modern types of dental prosthetics. Made of lithium disilicate, they are considered the state of the art in dentistry, only rivalled by zirconium. Their main advantages include:

Ceramic Crowns

Ceramic crowns come in many types, mostly made of lithium disilicate glass, self-glazed felspathic porcelain. They represent a durable, cost-effective option for dental restauration.

Metal Crowns

Metal crowns remain the strongest option, but the less natural-looking, even with porcelain coating. For this reason, they are usually advised for molars or back teeth that are not visible, and used for chewing and grinding.

How Dental Crowns Are Made Step by Step

Natural Clinic has its own Dental Laboratory with Zublers and VHF milling machines, the latest German tech.

To ensure adaptability, naturality and solidity, we employ 3 steps:

  • 3D analysis of your mouth topography
  • High-tech prosthesis manufacture
  • Final handcraft for natural results

You will eat, talk and smile with your dental prosthetics for decades. You might want to see how they’re made, and why they fit your mouth to perfection.

3-D Orthodontic Analysis

In the first step, we will make a thorough mouth analysis to map your complete buccal topography. We employ Romexis® software for this crucial step. It is used to create prosthetic teeth that fit your mouth with millimeter precision.

Zubler Crown Compressors

German-made Zublers are employed to compress crowns at extremely high-temperatures, reaching 1,500ºC. It is a key step to ensure your prosthetic teeth are practically unbreakable. Once they cool down, they are hard as steel.

Final Hand Touches for Natural Results

Human handcraft is required to ensure natural results. This means creating colour nuances and making sure every tooth is unique. Machines cannot do this with enough efficiency. Human work makes all the difference.

Getting Dental Crowns:
The Procedure Step by Step

Getting dental crowns requires precision, meticulosity, attention to details and great care to ensure long-term success.

Both laboratory and clinic work are paramount in granting the best results. The procedure is usually undergone in 4 steps:

1.Mouth Analysis

Like most medical procedures, an in-depth study of your mouth topography will be necessary to craft prosthetics that fit you with high precision. This will involve X-ray, 3-D mapping, gum evaluation, tooth consistency and the study of the patient’s medical history to study any prior issues, such as periodontal disease, and contraindications.

2. Preparation

Patients will either need placement of dental implants to fit the crown, or grinding to fit the crown on top of a natural tooth, using it as anchor. This will require removing tooth tissue layer by layer, giving it a suitable shape to install the prosthesis. Depending on the case, root canal, sinus lifting and bone grafting might be necessary, too.

3. Crown Manufacture

Following all data extracted from the first step, laboratory personnel will craft a dental crown to fit your mouth with millimiter precision. 3D intraoral scanning technology, on top of wax casts, will be used for this process. Then, milling and 3D printing will be carried out just as shown in the section before. The final step involves human handcraft to ensure every tooth is unique.

4. Crown Placement

The most important part of the procedure comes last – crown fitting. This step is carried out while the patient is under local anesthesia, to ensure a painless procedure. If the lab work has been effectively done, the crown should fit easily. A special cement is used to ensure the crown holds tightly in place.
