Most people don't arrive with a procedure name. They arrive with a photo on their phone, or a list. My nose has always bothered me. My stomach never went back after the twins. I'd like to look less tired. Sometimes it's one thing, sometimes four. And quite often the operation they've read about isn't the one that would actually help.
That's why this page doesn't start with a menu. Plastic surgery in Turkey runs from a quick eyelid tweak to a body lift that takes most of a day, so the first step is figuring out what's actually going on. After that we'll get to the four areas we cover, how combinations work, prices, and what the trip and the weeks afterwards are like.
What's actually bothering you?
A lot of searches begin with a name: facelift, BBL, tummy tuck. Fair enough. But the same complaint can need very different surgery. Take a stomach that hangs. That could be loose skin. Or the muscles underneath may have split, or it's just fat. Three causes, three different operations. Then there are tired-looking eyes. Heavy upper lids, bags underneath or a drooping brow could all be to blame.
In your first message, say what you don't like and attach a couple of decent photos. Working out the cause is our job. You may find the plan is smaller than you expected. Occasionally it's bigger. Either way you'll know why.
Face
Faces are personal, and there's nowhere to hide them. Most face enquiries are about noses that are too big, bent or blocked, tired-looking eyelids, or a jaw and neck that have lost their line. There's also a long tail of smaller operations, from ear pinning to chin implants to lip lifts.
What matters most here is proportion. A nose that suits one face looks wrong on another. Good facial surgery tends to be the kind nobody notices. People just say you look well. Our face surgery pages go through each operation, including how long the swelling lasts. With a nose, that's longer than most people expect: the final shape can take a year to settle.
Body
Body surgery usually comes after a big change. Pregnancy, weight loss surgery, or simply a lot of years. The question is almost always the same: is the problem fat, loose skin, or both?
Fat with decent skin over it is a liposuction job, which starts at €2,500 for one zone with us. Loose skin needs cutting away, so that's a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift or, after major weight loss, a body lift. With us a tummy tuck costs €4,000, muscle repair included, and a Brazilian butt lift is €5,000. That's the one where fat comes off the waist and goes into the buttocks. The body surgery section covers all of these, with the pros and cons of each.
Breast
Breast surgery splits roughly into four groups. Women who want more volume. Women whose breasts have dropped. Women whose breasts are too heavy. And people with implants that need changing or removing. Men with enlarged breast tissue make up a fifth group.
Getting the category right matters, because an implant won't lift a breast that's sagged, and a lift won't add much volume. On our list a lift is €3,500, the same as a reduction, and augmentation starts at €4,000. Our breast surgery pages explain how to tell which group you're in.
Genital
Not an easy subject to raise, we know. Here it is briefly. On the female side, labiaplasty is for labia that chafe or show through leggings, and vaginoplasty is for the slack feeling some women have after giving birth. On the male side it's mostly penile implants, when nothing else has helped with erections, plus penis enlargement. Prices: €3,000 for labiaplasty, €3,200 for vaginoplasty. Our genital surgery pages cover the questions that are awkward to ask a GP. Anything you send us about them stays with the surgical team.
Plastic surgery for men
Roughly speaking, men ask us for a different shortlist. Noses come top, often with a breathing problem thrown in. Then eyelids, liposuction around the waist and chest, and gynecomastia surgery for breast tissue that won't shift with diet. After big weight loss, men are as likely as women to need loose skin removed. Most of what's on this site applies to men just as much. The scars are planned for shorter hair and lower waistbands, and the aim is usually a stronger, more defined look rather than a softer one.
Can procedures be combined?
Often, yes. A tummy tuck with liposuction to the waist. A breast lift with an arm lift. Eyelids done alongside a facelift. After pregnancy, the classic combination is a mommy makeover: tummy tuck, waist liposuction and breast implants together, for €7,900.
There's a limit, though. Each procedure you add lengthens the anaesthetic, and with that the chance of clots and other complications climbs. Our anaesthetist decides the ceiling case by case, looking at your health and weight, and the surgeons can't overrule it. Too much for one sitting? Then it becomes two trips, both quoted up front. Two procedures done together get one plan and one price.
Is surgery right for you at all?
Sometimes the honest answer is "not yet". For body or breast work, we want to see your weight hold steady for at least half a year first. If you're planning more children, a tummy tuck or breast lift is usually best left until afterwards. Smoking slows healing badly, so smokers will be asked to stop for several weeks around the operation. Some health problems need sorting first, and a few rule surgery out.
Expectations matter too. Surgery can make a real difference, but it won't change your life on its own, and it can't make you look like someone else. If we think what you're hoping for isn't realistic, we'll say so.
When surgery isn't the first step
Not every problem needs an operation, at least not yet. Some people come to us wanting liposuction when the real issue is weight that's still dropping. Others ask about vaginal tightening before they've tried a few months with a pelvic floor physio. Thin calves can sometimes be built up in the gym. We'll point you that way when it makes sense, even though it means no surgery for now. Better that than an operation you didn't need.
Plastic surgery cost in Turkey
Every procedure on our list has a published price, and you'll find them on each page. The prices above give a rough idea. Each figure includes your surgical team and your time in hospital. Garments or dressings are covered too, along with being picked up at the airport, having someone to translate, and check-ups for a year. Hotel rooms we arrange are itemised separately.
Why is it cheaper here? Running costs in Istanbul are lower, and the exchange rate helps. Private clinics in the UK, Germany or the US often charge two or three times as much for the same operation. That shouldn't be the main reason you choose a clinic, though. Look at who's operating, what's included and who answers when you have a worry after flying home.
Why Istanbul?
Few cities do more cosmetic surgery than Istanbul, and you notice the effect. The surgeons repeat the same operations week in, week out. Hospitals are used to patients arriving from abroad, so airport pick-ups and translators are just part of the service. Flights from most of Europe are only a few hours. None of that guarantees a good result on its own, of course. It just means the setup is there.
Your trip and recovery
For most operations you'll spend around seven days in Istanbul, including one or two nights in hospital. Breast surgery usually needs seven to ten days before you fly. You'll have check-ups during your stay and a final one before you leave. Pack loose clothes that button or zip at the front; pulling things over your head is no fun after most operations.
Recovery carries on at home. Light everyday activity usually comes back within the first week. Full recovery takes anywhere from one to six months depending on the operation. The final result takes longer still: around a year for a nose, six to twelve months for body contouring. Early on, swelling covers up a lot. Give it time before you decide what you think.
Safety and what can go wrong
No operation is risk-free. Bleeding, infection, wounds that are slow to close, scars that heal wider or redder than you'd like, and numb patches are the common ones. Clots get the closest watching, especially when a long operation is followed by a flight. That's why calf pumps are used in theatre, why nurses get you walking early, and why someone checks you're fit before you fly home. Our operations take place in a licensed hospital, with an anaesthetist in the room throughout.
Photos, and how to read reviews
Almost everyone goes straight to plastic surgery before and after photos when they're checking results. Fair enough, as long as you know what you're looking for. Is the lighting the same in both? Is the pose the same? How long after surgery was the "after" taken? Two weeks after surgery, a picture is mostly showing swelling. Look for side-on shots, not just front-on ones, and for patients who look like you.
Reviews are worth reading too. Give the most weight to people writing a year or more after their operation, once they've lived with the result.
Choosing a plastic surgeon in Turkey
Ask who will actually operate, and how many of your particular procedure they do. Ask to see their results, not just the clinic's. Is the hospital licensed? Will you see the surgeon face to face before surgery day? And what happens with aftercare when you're home again? Clear answers to those questions tell you far more than a low price. That's the best way to choose plastic surgery in Turkey.
