Two visits, one plan
Six implants are distributed along the jaw, the rearmost placed further back than a four-implant design can reach. That shortens the unsupported arch behind the last implant and divides chewing force across six points instead of four. Reaching those positions needs bone at the back of the jaw — which is why the scan comes first, and why a graft or sinus lift is sometimes the condition of having six at all. A fixed provisional goes on the same day; the definitive zirconium arch follows after three to six months.

With All-on-6, six implants are distributed around the curve of the jaw and a single fixed bridge is screwed onto them. The additional posts reduce the load each implant carries, which is why this design is often preferred for patients who chew forcefully or who have a wide arch.
The main difference is the number of implants carrying the arch. All-on-6 distributes bite forces across six posts, which suits stronger bites and wider jaws, while All-on-4 needs less bone and less surgery. Your CBCT scan and bite analysis determine which option is appropriate.
All-on-6 is generally recommended for people with enough bone at six implant sites who have strong chewing forces, a broad dental arch or a history of grinding their teeth. Where bone is limited, All-on-4 or zygomatic implants may be considered instead.
