VASER Liposuction Turkey

VASER is probably the most advertised word in liposuction. Clinics put it in their headlines, patients ask for it by name, and many assume it's a newer, better operation altogether. On our price list it's something more modest: a €500 fee added to an ordinary liposuction, for the cases where the fat is hard to remove.

So the useful question about VASER liposuction in Turkey isn't whether it's good. It's whether it's good for you. Below are the situations we see most often, and what we'd usually advise in each.

What the ultrasound actually does

First, the mechanics, kept short. Ahead of the suction, a slim probe goes into the fat. It buzzes at a frequency far above hearing, and the vibration frees the fat cells from the tough web around them. After that it's ordinary liposuction: the cannula draws out what's been loosened.

Nothing gets sucked out by the probe. The cannula still does that work, and the operation runs a bit longer, not shorter. Where the fat is soft, the extra step buys you very little.

Scenario one: a soft lower tummy or saddlebags

A woman in her thirties with a soft pooch below the navel, or saddlebags that move freely when pinched. This is the most common enquiry we get, and here we usually say no to VASER.

Soft fat comes out evenly with ordinary liposuction. Adding ultrasound makes the operation longer and adds a small heat risk, without a result you'd be able to see. Saving the €500 is the sensible choice. Not sure what kind of fat you have? That's for us to judge, first from your photos and then by hand on the day.

Scenario two: a man with a firm chest or thick flanks

Male fat on the chest and flanks is often dense and gristly. A cannula drags through it, and the result can be patchy. This is where ultrasound helps most, and we recommend it routinely.

On the chest, there's often gland tissue behind the fat as well. That's why our gynecomastia price already includes VASER: we'd be adding it anyway.

Scenario three: the bra roll and upper back

Back fat is some of the most fibrous on the body, particularly the roll around the bra strap and the hump where the neck meets the spine. Ordinary liposuction can leave ridges here. With VASER the layer comes out more evenly, and the extra €500 is money well spent. There's more on the area itself on our back liposuction page.

Scenario four: a second liposuction

Previously treated areas fill with scar tissue, and the fat no longer moves the way it did. Revision liposuction is one of the clearest reasons to use ultrasound. It loosens the scarred layer so dents and lumps can be smoothed out rather than worked around.

Revision is never as predictable as a first operation, VASER or not. But without the ultrasound, it's harder still. If you've had liposuction elsewhere, send us whatever you know about it, even if it's only the date and the areas treated.

Scenario five: HD and six-pack sculpting

HD liposuction works in the shallow fat just under the skin, where every pass of the cannula shows. Loosening that fat first gives the surgeon far more control, which is why ultrasound is included in our six-pack price rather than charged on top. Scenario six: fat taken for a BBL

When fat is being moved to the buttocks in a Brazilian butt lift, the fat that comes out has to survive the journey. Heat and rough handling can harm the cells. Some surgeons use ultrasound at gentle settings in donor areas, and others prefer to harvest without it. We decide area by area, depending on how fibrous the tissue is and how much of it will be transferred.

Scenario seven: hoping VASER will tighten loose skin

This is the request we most often have to turn down. Some VASER advertising suggests the heat tightens skin. Studies do show a small improvement in skin contraction compared with ordinary liposuction, but it's modest. It won't lift skin that hangs or creases after pregnancy or weight loss.

Where pinched skin stays creased or simply hangs, the answer is removing skin, not adding heat. On the abdomen that means a tummy tuck. Pairing three VASER-treated zones with a tummy tuck costs €5,000 on our list, which tells you how we see the two working together.

VASER vs traditional liposuction

Put plainly, VASER is traditional liposuction with an extra step. Same zones, same garment, much the same recovery. The difference is in the tough areas, where the fat lets go more readily and the finish tends to be smoother.

Some adverts promise far less pain, bruising and time off. Take that with a pinch of salt. A few patients do find recovery a little easier in fibrous areas, because the cannula does less forcing. Others notice no difference. The number of zones treated has a much bigger effect on how you'll feel afterwards than the device.

VASER, laser lipo and J-Plasma: not the same thing

People mix these up because each one uses some form of energy. With laser-assisted liposuction, a fine laser fibre heats and breaks down fat; we keep it mostly for small spots like the area under the chin. VASER relies on ultrasound, and it's at its best over larger stretches of fibrous fat.

J-Plasma is different again. It doesn't remove fat at all. It uses a stream of energised helium gas under the skin to encourage mild tightening, and it's priced separately at €1,500. It can help skin that's borderline. It can't help skin that clearly hangs, and it isn't a replacement for a lift.

Who benefits from VASER?

First, someone who'd be a good candidate for liposuction anyway: a steady weight, fat that can be pinched, and skin that springs back. Then, on top of that, fat that's dense, fibrous or scarred. Men, the back and the chest, and areas treated before are the usual examples.

If your fat is soft and you've never had liposuction there, VASER rarely adds anything you'd notice. We'd rather tell you that than add a fee to your plan. Quite a few people who write to us asking for VASER liposuction in Turkey turn out to fit the first description but not the second, and they get the same result for €500 less.

What VASER changes in your results

In the right areas, results tend to be smoother, with fewer ridges and less patchiness. Smoother is the honest selling point. It won't let us safely remove more fat, shorten your swelling, or tighten skin that's already loose. Those come down to your body and your plan.

VASER, 360 and HD

Clinic websites tend to blur these together, but they're separate things. VASER is a piece of equipment. 360 describes how much of the body is treated, right round the waist. HD describes a goal, visible muscle definition. You can have 360 liposuction with or without VASER, and HD always uses it. When a quote lists all three, ask what each one is doing for you.

The risks specific to VASER

Ultrasound produces heat. Used well, it stays inside the fat layer. Used carelessly, it can burn the skin, most often at the small entry points where the probe goes in. That's why the skin there is protected with special ports during surgery, and why the time the probe runs in each area is limited. Any surgeon who uses it regularly will happily walk you through how they guard against burns.

Seroma, a pocket of fluid under the skin, is a little more likely after ultrasound. You'd notice a soft, squashy swelling within the first couple of weeks, and it's drained at a follow-up. Beyond that, the risks match any liposuction, and how much is done matters far more than which device is used.

Recovering from VASER liposuction

It's much like getting over ordinary liposuction. Patients talk about a deep, bruised ache more than sharp pain, worst over the first few days. You'll be walking the same day and wearing the compression garment for four to six weeks. Bruises generally fade over two to three weeks.

Back at work in one to two weeks is typical; more zones, longer. The final contour takes around six months to show fully, slightly longer in fibrous areas than in soft ones.

VASER liposuction cost in Turkey

Our liposuction prices depend on how many zones are treated: €2,500 for one, up to €6,800 for eight. VASER is a single €500 charge for the whole operation, however many zones it covers. It's included at no extra charge in our gynecomastia and tummy tuck combinations and in HD six-pack shaping. Like J-Plasma, it isn't part of the combination discount.

Adding VASER doesn't lengthen your trip. Plans with up to four zones mean four nights in Istanbul; bigger plans mean six. Either way, you sleep in hospital the night after surgery. Elsewhere it costs more: the comparison table lists €5,500 to €8,150 for VASER liposuction in Britain and prices from €5,300 in America.

Choosing a clinic for VASER liposuction in Turkey

Three questions are worth asking anywhere. What is it about my fat that makes VASER worth adding? Which zones, by name, does the price cover? And how does the surgeon protect the skin from heat? A clinic that recommends VASER for every patient, regardless of the fat, is selling a word rather than a reason.

What VASER before and after photos should show

VASER before and after photos look much like any liposuction photos, because the result is the same kind of result. What's worth checking is smoothness in fibrous areas, such as the male chest, the flanks and the back, where ultrasound should make the most difference. Reviews from three months onwards are the most informative, once the swelling has gone.

Getting an honest recommendation
