DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a hair transplant technique in which grafts are loaded into a Choi implanter pen and placed directly into the scalp. Unlike classic FUE, there is no separate channel-opening stage: the pen creates the opening and inserts the graft in a single movement.
The Choi implanter pen is the instrument that places each graft during DHI. It sets the angle, depth and direction of every graft individually, which is why DHI is often chosen for hairlines, where natural direction and a slightly irregular edge matter most.
Yes, DHI is commonly used for patients who cannot or prefer not to shave. Whether your procedure can be unshaven depends on your donor density and the size of the area to be treated, which is assessed from photographs before you travel.
