Loose upper-arm skin is cut out and the arm closed along the line where the excess ran. Every other body scar has a waistband or a crease to hide in. This one does not — which is why the decision here is about the scar at least as much as the shape.

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes loose, hanging skin and excess fat from the underside of the upper arms. The remaining skin is tightened and the arm reshaped, creating a firmer, more toned contour that liposuction alone cannot achieve when skin laxity is significant.
An arm lift is typically suitable for people with loose upper-arm skin that swings when the arm is raised, often after major weight loss or with ageing. Candidates should be at a stable weight and understand that the procedure leaves a visible scar along the inner arm.
Only when the skin still has good elasticity. If the upper-arm skin hangs or does not spring back when pinched, liposuction would remove fat but leave loose skin behind, so an arm lift is needed to remove the excess and tighten the area.
