Few people can say when it started. Maybe the hair tie suddenly needed a third twist. Maybe the parting looked wider under the bathroom light one morning. Nothing dramatic. You still have plenty of hair, it just doesn't look the way it did. That's the point where a lot of people first search for hair mesotherapy in Turkey, and it's a sensible point to ask about it, because the treatment only has something to work on while the hair is still there.
The section above explains the injection itself. Down here we'll cover the rest. Who tends to do well with it, and who doesn't. What might be in the syringe. How long before you'd notice anything, what hair mesotherapy before and after photos can honestly show, and how to think about the price when the treatment never really has an end date.
Does hair mesotherapy work?
Sometimes, for some people. We'd rather say that plainly than promise more.
Part of the problem is that "mesotherapy" describes a delivery method. Two clinics can use the same needle and inject completely different things. So when one study reports a good result, it tells you about that particular solution, and very little about the one you're being offered. And honestly, there isn't a lot of good research. Medicines like minoxidil have far more studies behind them.
We use it alongside other treatment. On its own it's rarely enough. Patients who respond tend to say their hair feels stronger, while others mostly notice they're shedding less. We judge it against your own photos at a set review date. If nothing has changed by then, we'll tell you to stop.
Who is a good candidate for hair mesotherapy?
The single requirement is living follicles in the area being treated. Early thinning fits. So does hair that's gone fine and limp across the top while the density has mostly held. Shedding can fit too, but only once someone has worked out why it's happening.
It's also used around a transplant, on the native hair near the new grafts. We'll come back to that below.
Where it won't help is shiny, smooth scalp. If the follicle has gone, there's nothing for the solution to reach, and no number of sessions changes that. At that stage the conversation is about a hair transplant.
When mesotherapy isn't the right first step
Hair falls out for plenty of reasons that have nothing to do with the scalp. Low iron is a common one. An underactive or overactive thyroid is another. So are hormonal shifts after pregnancy or around menopause, and some medicines. Fix the cause and the hair often recovers by itself. Inject the scalp without fixing it and you've paid for something that was never going to work.
So before anything else, we'll ask about blood tests, your medication and any recent life changes. If the answer looks like a GP problem, we'll send you back to your GP.
Some people shouldn't have it at all, at least for now. That includes anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an active scalp infection or a flare of an inflammatory scalp condition, and people with a bleeding disorder or on blood thinners. Known allergy to anything in the solution rules that solution out, obviously.
Hair mesotherapy for women
A lot of the people who ask us about it are women, and the reasons make sense. Female hair loss tends to be diffuse. Rather than a receding line, it's an overall thinning, a ponytail that's half the width it was, more scalp showing along the parting. That's exactly the pattern where follicles are still present and transplant options are more limited.
It's also where the cause matters most. Postpartum shedding usually settles on its own. Iron and thyroid problems are more common. And if you're planning a pregnancy, mention it, because some formulas contain a medicine that has to be avoided then. If your thinning has reached the point where surgery is worth discussing, our female hair transplant page covers who that works for.
Hair mesotherapy ingredients
You'll often see it sold as a "hair mesotherapy cocktail". The name is fancier than the contents. Open most recipes and B vitamins are the base. Trace minerals and amino acids usually get added too, and often hyaluronic acid. That's the nutritional side, and it's what most people picture.
Some clinics go further and add a prescription medicine, usually one that blocks DHT, the hormone behind pattern hair loss. Dutasteride is the one you'll see mentioned most. That's a real drug with real side effects, and adding it is a prescribing decision. You should be told by name, before you sign anything, if it's in your syringe.
Hair mesotherapy vs PRP and exosomes
People mix these up all the time, and quotes don't always help. Here's the short version.
PRP uses your own blood, spun down to concentrate the platelets and injected straight back the same visit. Mesotherapy uses a ready-made solution from outside your body. Exosome hair therapy is a separate thing again, with its own page. Each is sold as a course, each has limited evidence, and some patients end up moving from one to another at the review stage. Whichever you're offered, check the name on the consent form matches the name on the invoice.
Hair mesotherapy after a hair transplant
Many people who ask about hair mesotherapy in Turkey are already coming for a transplant. Here's why. The hairs we move in a transplant come from the back of the head, where hair doesn't respond to pattern loss, and they keep that trait in their new spot. Your own hair at the front never had it. It can go on thinning for years. Mesotherapy is sometimes used to support that native hair.
A couple of points worth knowing. It's not part of our transplant packages, so it's quoted separately. And if your package includes stem cell treatment, that's a different treatment altogether, not mesotherapy under another name. Your surgeon decides when, after surgery, the scalp is ready for injections.
How many sessions of hair mesotherapy will I need?
We can't give you a number on this page, and you should be wary of anyone who does before seeing your scalp. Session count and spacing are set after the assessment, then written down along with the formula, the total cost and the review date.
What you can count on is that it's a series. One session on its own won't show you anything.
Hair mesotherapy side effects
Mostly small and short-lived. The scalp tends to be tender for a few hours. Some redness is normal for the rest of the day. Bruising is less common, and when it happens it's usually a dot or two at the injection points. Infection is rare. So is an allergic reaction to something in the mix. If one spot gets hotter and sorer on day two instead of settling, send us a photo.
Aftercare is simple. Wait the short time before washing that your protocol specifies, and that's about it.
One thing that surprises people: mesotherapy doesn't cause a shedding phase. Transplanted hairs shed around three weeks after surgery, but injections don't work like that. If you're still losing a lot of hair partway through a course, that's your underlying condition talking, and the cause needs another look.
Hair mesotherapy results
Think months. Weeks are too soon to judge. When hair mesotherapy results do show, the first thing most people notice is less hair in the brush and the plughole. Changes in thickness, if they come, come later.
And they only last while you keep going. Stop the maintenance sessions and the benefit fades over time. No clinic's technique gets around that. Budget for it from day one.
How to judge hair mesotherapy before and after photos
The before and after gallery above sets the tone well. Expect subtle. Shinier hair, maybe a little more bounce. Bald patches don't fill in.
The trouble is, subtle changes are easy to fake. Give someone a good blow-dry and some volumising spray and you've got half a result before a single needle. Light does the rest. So when you're scrolling through hair mesotherapy before and after pictures, from us or anyone else, look at the parting. Is it in the same spot? Was the hair washed and dried the same way? Has the light moved? Your own baseline photos matter even more. We take them under fixed lighting before the first session, because without them nobody can honestly say whether the course worked.
Hair mesotherapy reviews help with a different question. Read what people say months in, about whether they kept going and why.
Hair mesotherapy cost and price in Turkey
We price a course, so you won't find a per-session figure next to the Turkish column above. The foreign prices shown there are per session, which makes direct comparison misleading. A long course of cheap sessions can end up costing more than a short course of dearer ones.
So ask for the total. Then think past it. Because results depend on maintenance, the real hair mesotherapy cost in Turkey or anywhere else includes whatever you'll spend keeping it up.
There's also the travel question. Flying in for each session rarely makes sense. It works better alongside a transplant, or as a first block here that you then continue with a practitioner at home. Before you pay, find out who that will be.
Questions to settle in writing
Before you commit to hair mesotherapy in Istanbul, or anywhere, get a few things on paper. What exactly is in the solution, and does it include a medicine? How many sessions, how far apart? What's the full price for the course? When is the review, and who decided you needed this in the first place, with what qualification?
If a clinic can't answer those, the per-session price doesn't tell you much. Send us photos of the front, top and crown, plus any test results you already have, and we'll tell you whether hair mesotherapy in Turkey has a sensible role in your case.
