A thin cannula works within the fat layer beneath the chin while the laser breaks the fat down, and the contour is checked as it goes rather than worked to a set volume. The skin then redrapes over the smaller contour on its own, which is why recoil is tested before anything is agreed.

Chin liposuction removes excess fat from beneath the chin and along the upper neck through tiny incisions, using a fine cannula. It sharpens the angle between the chin and neck and helps define the jawline, which is why it is sometimes called submental liposuction.
Chin liposuction suits people with soft, pinchable fat under the chin and good skin elasticity in the neck. It works best when fullness is caused mainly by fat rather than by loose skin or weak neck muscles, which need different treatment.
If the neck skin is loose, hangs when you look down or shows visible vertical muscle bands, removing fat alone may leave the neck looking slack. In these cases, a neck lift, which tightens muscle and removes skin, usually gives a better result.
Neck lift and mini facelift are the operations that answer lax skin and platysma banding — the two findings that make liposuction the wrong choice here, and both cost more than this one. The chin implant answers weak projection.
