Breast implant removal, sometimes called explant surgery, takes out existing breast implants and manages the scar capsule that has formed around them. Depending on your goals and breast tissue, it can be combined with a lift or fat transfer to improve the shape of the breasts afterwards.
Reasons include discomfort, hardening caused by capsular contracture, implant rupture, concerns about health or long-term safety, changes in body shape or simply no longer wanting implants. Your reason helps the surgeon decide how the capsule should be managed. Some patients simply prefer a more natural, lighter chest after years with implants.
